How Advanced Analytics can help resolving business problems?
Advanced Analytics typically incorporate such functionality as data mining, descriptive modeling, econometrics, forecasting, operations research, optimization, predictive modeling, simulation, statistics, and text analytics. Recently, the interest towards this emerging technology is growing exponentially and more than 85% of Forbs 500 companies are using Advanced Analytics in their business decision-making processes. Some examples of Advanced Analytics applications at The Dow Chemical Company for price forecasting, price elasticity analysis, business cycles analysis, demand sensing, and fraud detection in auditing will be given. Recommendations on introducing Advanced Analytics capabilities in a business will be defined and some lessons learned will be shared. Some ideas for developing a small-scale Advanced Analytics package for small businesses will be discussed as well.
